Function
The hand brake is designed as a lever brake and located on the right side next to the driver's seat.
The function of the parking brake is classified as follows:
- Function as cables, except model 461.392
- Function as cables, model 461.392
- Function as brake shoes actuator
- Driver information
Function as cables, except model 461.392
The hand brake works on the wheels of the rear axle (RA) via 2 cables.
Function as cables, model 461.392
The hand brake works on a floating cable balance via 2 cables. The brake cables of the wheels of the 2nd rear axle are actuated. The tractive forces of the cables of the hand brake lever and both the cables of the 2nd rear axle at the cable balance cause tractive force on the brake cable of the wheels of the 1st rear axle.
Function as brake shoes actuator
Actuating the brake cables using the hand brake lever in the passenger compartment works on the brake lever that is drawn to the brake anchor center. This makes the rear brake shoe come into contact with the brake drums. If the rear brake shoe makes contact, the front brake shoe is supported with the push rod (between the front and rear brake shoe) and comes into contact with the brake drums via the pivot point of the front brake shoe.
Driver information
When the parking brake is engaged and the ignition is switched on, the parking brake warning lamp in the instrument cluster lights up. The parking brake warning lamp is actuated using the parking brake indicator switch.
