From the type 172, the contacting concept of electrical mass connections was changed to the body. All ground connections of the body are supercover production side with a lacquer layer.
Important:
For the ground fittings, the newly developed laquer-slip nut (2) must be used. As a result, an electrically conductive connection to a varnished ground connection to the body is processively produced. Due to the technology of the laquer-slip nut (2), the paint is removed when tightening the screw. As a result, an electrical connection between the inner thread of the ground terminal and the internal thread of the paint shaping nut (2) is allowed.
The use of other nuts, deviating from the prescribed lacquer-slip nut (2) (e.g. for retracts, repairs), can lead to a complaint.
Furthermore, the following should be noted:
- New ground connections:
Previously unused ground terminals must be checked to ensure that the bearing block of the cable lug (1) has no weld splash or similar issues. Otherwise, it can lead to the screw connection to tensions or deformations of the cable lug (1).
- Repeated use of the lacquer-slip nut (2):
Before unscrewing the lacquer-slip nut (2) on the ground terminal, the paint abrasion is to be removed in the grooves (e.g. with compressed air blowing out).
- Last painting in the area of the ground connection:
To avoid thick paint layers, a paint protector is required on the connection in the area of the ground terminal (e.g. screwed nut or cover cap).
