Component Description For Sound System Amplifier Control Unit - GF82.62-P-5010GWM
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2019
with code EU8 (Burmester® surround sound system)
Location
The sound system amplifier control unit is located behind the left side wall trim in the load compartment.
Tasks
The sound system amplifier control unit has the following tasks:
- Receive signals
- Signal optimization and amplification
- Transmitting signals
Receive signals
The input factors are read in via:
- Media Oriented System Transport (MOST)
- Direct lines
MOST
The sound system amplifier control unit also receives the following signals over MOST:
- Control and audio signals from the head unit (A26/17)
- Audio parameters (e.g. volume, sound) from the head unit
- Control and audio signals fro the TV tuner control unit (N143) (with code EM8 (TV tuner))
- Interior noise level signals from the driver hands-free system microphone (B25/20) and from the front passenger hands-free system microphone (B25/21) over the head unit for the speed-dependent volume control (SDV)
- Speed signal from head unit, for speed-dependent volume control
Direct lines
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Audio muting (mute LIN) from HERMES control unit (N112/9) (with code EK1 (HERMES LTE communication module) or code EM2 (HERMES UMTS communication module))
- Electrical wake-up
Signal optimization and amplification
- Optimization of input signals through digital signal processing and sound optimization algorithms (Surround Sound, Easy Listening, Live, 3D Sound)
- Support of stereo and multichannel entertainment channels and announcement channels (e.g. for voice output in voice control system or navigation prompts)
- Amplifying of the input signals and assignment of the output to the speakers
Transmitting signals
The sound system amplifier control unit emits the audio signals at the following speakers:
- Left front door midrange speaker (H4/1)
- Right front door midrange speaker (H4/2)
- Left rear door midrange speaker (H4/3)
- Right rear door midrange speaker (H4/4)
- Left instrument panel tweeter (H4/33)
- Right instrument panel tweeter (H4/34)
- Left rear door tweeter (H4/35)
- Right rear door tweeter (H4/36)
- Left rear subwoofer (H4/42)
- Left rear midrange speaker for surround sound system (H4/62)
- Right rear midrange speaker for surround sound system (H4/63)
- Left front door woofer (H4/88)
- Right front door woofer (H4/89)
- Left front center overhead control panel midrange speaker (3D sound) (H4/115)
- Right front center overhead control panel midrange speaker (3D sound) (H4/116)
Function
The sound system amplifier control unit is actuated via the head unit. The head unit also provides all of the menus for user guidance. The software update and diagnosis communication also occur via the head unit.
For the optimized SDV, the sound system amplifier control unit evaluates the speed signal and noise level in the vehicle interior over the driver hands-free system microphone and front passenger hands-free system microphone.
