Function requirements for video operation in general 

• Status circuit 30g ON
• A video DVD is inserted into the DVD/CD magazine of the COMAND controller unit (A40/3)
• Transport mode not active

Video mode 

The DVD drive of the COMAND controller unit supports playback of video DVDs. The video image is shown on the Audio/COMAND display (A40/8).

The system can be operated using the:

• Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9), the signals are forwarded via the telematics CAN to the COMAND controller unit
• COMAND controller unit control panels, the signals are processed internally

The picture signals are transmitted via a separate video line within the COMAND controller unit. The COMAND controller unit sends the image data to the Audio/COMAND display over a low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) line.

In vehicles without code EU9 (Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system), audio output is performed by the COMAND controller unit via the speaker system.

On vehicles with code EU9 (Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system), the audio signals are forwarded over Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3), where they are then amplified and emitted over the speaker system..

The video DVD function is only available for a stationary vehicle. Only acoustic playback is active while driving for safety reasons, and a warning appears on the audio/COMAND display.
