Steering Wheel Electronics Control Unit, Component Description - GF82.90-P-4006GWM
Model 463 (except 463.342)
as of model year 2019
Location
The steering wheel electronics are located directly behind the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) on the steering column tube of the steering column.
Tasks
The steering wheel electronics do the following:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Steering wheel CAN (CAN LR)
Direct line
The signals from the following components are read via a direct line:
- Heating element temperature sensor (R22/4b1) (with code VL0 (Heated multifunction steering wheel))
- Instrument cluster multifunction steering wheel button group (S163/1)
- Head unit multifunction steering wheel button group (S163/2)
- Steering wheel downshift button (S110/1)
- Steering wheel upshift button (S111/1)
- Horn contact plate (S4/2)
Steering wheel CAN
The steering wheel electronics receive the signals for actuation of the following components via the steering wheel CAN from the steering column tube module control unit:
- Multifunction steering wheel button groups (symbol illumination)
- Steering wheel heating element (R22/4r1) (with code VL0 (Heated multifunction steering wheel))
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The following components are actuated via a direct line:
- Multifunction steering wheel button groups (symbol illumination)
- Steering wheel heating element (R22/4r1) (with code VL0 (Heated multifunction steering wheel))
