Standing/Parking Lights Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3060GW

Model 463 (except 463.342)

as of model year 2013 up to model year 2019

Model 463.342

Function requirements, general

Standing/parking lights, general

The standing lights/parking lights actuation serves the marking of the parked vehicle in darkness.

The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following partial functions:

Standing lamp actuation function sequence

Vehicles without code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking):

Turning the exterior lights switch (S1) to the "Standing lights" position requests actuation of the standing lights.

The SAM control unit (N10) reads in the status of the exterior lights switch directly and activates the standing lights actuation. At the same time, the SAM control unit transmits the "Switch on standing lights indicator lamp" request via interior CAN (CAN B) to the instrument cluster (A1), which then switches on the scale illumination of the instrument cluster and in model 463.272/273, the standing lights indicator lamp (A1e38).

Vehicles with code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking):

Turning the stealth lights rotary light switch (S12) to the "standing lights" position requests actuation of the standing lights.

The SAM control unit reads in the status of the stealth lights rotary light switch from the stealth lights control unit (N1) directly and activates the standing lights actuation. At the same time, the SAM control unit sends the "Switch on standing lights indicator lamp" request over the interior CAN, stealth lights control unit and instrument cluster CAN (IC CAN) to the instrument cluster, which then switches on the scale illumination of the instrument cluster.

The SAM control unit actuates the following exterior lights components:

The SAM control unit transmits the "standing lights on" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) (except model 463.242).

The trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) actuates the following components of the exterior lights on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58) (except model 463.242):

Additional function requirements for lights on reminder

IMPORTANT The left front door control unit (N69/1) transmits the status of the driver door (open or closed) via interior CAN to the SAM control unit. The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status via interior CAN to the SAM control unit.

Function sequence for lights on reminder warning

The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the SAM control unit.

Vehicles without code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking):

The SAM control unit evaluates all relevant information, generates, if necessary, the request for output of the lights on reminder function and transmits this via interior CAN to the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster then actuates the warning buzzer (A1h1). The "Switch off light" message appears in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster.

The standing lights may be switched on because the low beams have been manually switched on, because of the auto on/off driving lights or manually via the exterior lights switch. If the standing lights have been activated because of the manually activated low beams, auto on/off driving lights or daytime running lights and the driver door is opened with circuit 15C On, the standing lights are switched off.

Vehicles with code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking):

The SAM control unit evaluates all relevant information, generates, if necessary, the request for output of the light warning function and transmits this via the interior CAN, stealth lights control unit and instrument cluster CAN to the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster then actuates the warning buzzer. The "Switch off lights" message appears in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster.

The standing lights can be switched on because of the low beams (stealth lights rotary light switch in "Low beams" position) or manually using the stealth lights rotary light switch (stealth lights rotary light switch in "Standing light" position). If the standing lights have been switched on manually, they are switched off when the energy management determines that the engine's starting capability is impaired due to discharging of the on-board electrical system battery. If the standing lights are activated as a result of the low beams and the driver door is then opened with circuit 15C On status, the standing lights are switched off.

Additional function requirements for parking lights actuation (except code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking)

Function sequence for parking lights actuation (except code E11 (Stealth lights with convoy marking)

By turning the exterior lights switch to the left parking lights position or the right parking lights position, the parking lights actuation is requested for the corresponding side of vehicle.

The SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the exterior lights switch and activates the parking lights actuation.

Left parking light:

The SAM control unit actuates the following exterior lights components:

The SAM control unit transmits the "left parking light on" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242). The trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) actuates the following component of the exterior lights on the trailer via the trailer socket (except model 463.242):

Right parking light:

The SAM control unit actuates the following exterior lights components:

The SAM control unit transmits the "right parking light on" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242). The trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) actuates the following component of the exterior lights on the trailer via the trailer socket (except model 463.242):

IMPORTANT If the interior CAN is in a "bus idle" state, the parking lights actuation remains saved in the trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) until deactivation is requested by the SAM control unit, even if this causes the on-board electrical system voltage to collapse and the on-board electrical system battery (G1) to be completely discharged.

IMPORTANT If the engine is started with an active parking lights actuation, the SAM control unit switches off the parking lights actuation.
