Backup Lamp Actuation, Function - GF82.10-P-3011GW
Model 463
as of model year 2013
Function requirements, general
- No overvoltage or undervoltage
- Terminal 15 ON
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status of circuit 15 to the SAM control unit (N10) (up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342) or front SAM control unit (N10/6) (as of 03.04.2018 except model 463.342) via the interior CAN (CAN B).
Backup light actuation, general
The backup light actuation enables the traffic lane to the rear of the vehicle to be illuminated when backing up.
Function sequence for backup light actuation
For vehicles as of 03.04.2018 except model 463.342, the following applies:
Backup light actuation is activated by the front SAM control unit when the "R" gear range is engaged.
Gear range "R" is engaged by the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4). The fully integrated transmission control unit then sends the "Gear range R engaged" status to the electronic ignition lock control unit over the drive train (CANC1), drive train control unit (N127) and chassis FlexRay (Flex E) to the electronic ignition lock control unit.
The electronic ignition lock control unit generates the "Reverse gear engaged" signal from incoming information and transmits this to the front SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
The front SAM control unit sends the "Switch on backup lights" request to the rear SAM control unit (N10/8) via interior CAN.
The rear SAM control unit receives this signal and actuates the following components directly:
- Left backup lamp (E3e3) in the left rear lamp unit (E3)
- Right backup lamp (E4e3) in the right rear lamp unit (E4)
The front SAM control unit also transmits the "Switch on reversing lamp" request via the interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1), which then actuates the reversing lamps on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58) (with code Q55 (Trailer coupling, ball head) or code Q59 (Trailer hitch, removable)).
For vehicles up to 02.04.2018 or model 463.342, the following applies:
The SAM control unit activates reversing lamp actuation when the "R" drive range is engaged.
Gear range "R" is engaged through the fully integrated transmission control unit. The fully integrated transmission control unit then transmits the "Drive range R engaged" status to the electronic ignition lock control unit via the drive CAN, CDI control unit (N3/9) (diesel engine) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (engine 157, 273) or powertrain control unit (engine 176) and suspension CAN 1 (CAN E1). The electronic ignition lock control unit uses this to generate the "Reverse gear engaged" status and transmits this to the SAM control unit and trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) via the interior CAN.
The SAM control unit then actuates the backup lamp (E7). The trailer recognition control unit (except model 463.242) actuates the trailer reversing lamp via the trailer socket (except model 463.242).
