Instrument cluster, general 

The instrument cluster notifies the driver of all dynamic and static driving conditions as well as about the current condition of the systems installed in the vehicle.

In the event of faulty vehicle functions or functions relevant to safety, corresponding warnings are issued via the instrument cluster.

The following displays are incorporated in the instrument cluster in order to be able to convey information to the driver:

As of 03 04 2018 (except Model 463 342):

The instrument cluster multifunction steering wheel button group can be used to navigate within the operating menus (e.g. Workshop, Service, Trip, Media) in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster and to change to sub-menus:

Up to 02 04 2018 or for Model 463 342: 

The left multifunction steering wheel button group and the right

multifunction steering wheel button group can be used to display

various menu levels in the multifunction display of the instrument

cluster:

The instrument cluster makes the following functions possible:

Function sequence for activate instrument cluster 

For the following events the background illumination of the multifunction display in the instrument cluster is activated:

The following events activate the background illumination of the multifunction display and the scale illumination of the instrument cluster:

IMPORTANT After bus idle, the instrument cluster remains active for t = 40 s. If a fault exists, this time is extended to t = 120 s.

Additional function requirements for indicator lamp test 

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the circuit 15 status as of production date April 3rd, 2018 (except Model 463.342) over the user interface CAN or up to production date April 2nd, 2018 or for Model 463.342 over suspension CAN 2 to the instrument cluster.

Function sequence for indicator lamp test 

The indicator lamp test serves the function test of certain warning lamps and indicator lamps in the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster carries out this test automatically each time circuit 15 is switched on.

The function of the following warning and indicator lamps is checked during the indicator lamp test:

IMPORTANT The indicator lamp test is terminated when the engine is started.

The function of the following indicator lamps is not checked:

  Control/warning messages, function   GF54.30-P-2001GW 
  Display operating conditions, function   GF54.30-P-3041GW 
  Comfort displays, function   GF54.30-P-3043GW 
  Trip computer, function   GF54.30-P-3044GW
