Location 

The powertrain control unit is located in the front passenger footwell and it is fastened to the engine compartment's partition wall.

Tasks 

The powertrain control unit has the following tasks:

IMPORTANT The powertrain control unit serves as an interface (gateway) between the ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) and the connected bus systems.

Reading in of signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line 

The powertrain control unit reads in the signal of the following component over direct lines:

Component Signals
Fan motor (M4/7) Fault message (pulse width modulated signal)

Drivetrain LIN 

The powertrain control unit also reads in the following signals over the drive-train-LIN:

Low-temperature circuit circulation pump 1 (M43/6) Fault message, signal
Low temperature circuit circulation pump 2 (M43/7) Fault message, signal
Engine cooling air flap actuator motor (M107) Fault message, signal

Drive train CAN 

The powertrain control unit also reads in the following signals over the drive train CAN:

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

The powertrain control unit actuates the following component over a direct line:
