Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct lines (AIR BODY CONTROL control unit only)
- Suspension FlexRay (Flex E)
Direct lines
The AIR BODY CONTROL control unit reads in the signals from the following components via direct lines:
- Left rear level sensor (B22/7)
- Left front level sensor (B22/8)
- Right front level sensor (B22/9)
- Right rear level sensor (B22/10)
- Left front body acceleration sensor (B24/3) (up to 31.05.2018)
- Right front body acceleration sensor (B24/4) (up to 31.05.2018)
- Left rear body acceleration sensor (B24/5) (up to 31.05.2018)
- AIR BODY CONTROL pressure sensor (Y36/6b1) (model 238.3 up to 31.05.2018)
Chassis FlexRay
The AIR BODY CONTROL control unit also reads in the following signals via chassis FlexRay:
- Atmospheric pressure
- Intake air temperature
- Wheel speed
- Displayed vehicle speed
- Turn rate, lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration
- Brake torque
- Status of service brake
- Transmission mode, request
- Status of vehicle level button (N72/4s2)
- Status of engine operation
The AIR BODY CONTROL Plus control unit receives information and requests from AIR BODY CONTROL control unit via chassis FlexRay.
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The AIR BODY CONTROL control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:
- AIR BODY CONTROL pressure relief valve (A9/1y1)
- AIR BODY CONTROL relay (K40/8kR)
- Left front level control valve (Y36/6y1)
- Right front level control valve (Y36/6y2)
- Left rear level control valve (Y36/6y3)
- Right rear level control valve (Y36/6y4)
- AIR BODY CONTROL pressure reservoir filling valve (Y36/6y5) (model 238.3 up to 31.05.2018)
- Left front axle damping valve unit (Y51)
- Solenoid valve 1, left front (Y51y1)
- Solenoid valve 2, left front (Y51y2)
- Right front axle damping valve unit (Y52)
- Solenoid valve 1, right front (Y52y1)
- Solenoid valve 2, right front (Y52y2)
- Left rear axle damping valve unit (Y53)
- Solenoid valve 1, left rear (Y53y1)
- Solenoid valve 2, left rear (Y53y2)
- Right rear axle damping valve unit (Y54)

- Right front axle air suspension valve unit (Y52/2)
- Air suspension valve 1, front right (Y52/2y1)
- Air suspension valve 2, front right (Y52/2y2)
- Left rear axle air suspension valve unit (Y53/2)
- Air suspension valve 1, rear left (Y53/2y1)
- Air suspension valve 2, rear left (Y53/2y2)
- Right rear axle air suspension valve unit (Y54/2)
- Air suspension valve 1, rear right (Y54/2y1)
- Air suspension valve 2, rear right (Y54/2y2)
Sending signals
The AIR BODY CONTROL control unit also sends the following signals via chassis FlexRay:
- Fault message, request
- System and warning messages, request
- Actuation of air suspension valves, request
The AIR BODY CONTROL Plus control unit sends the status of air suspension valves to the AIR BODY CONTROL control unit via chassis FlexRay.
