Disconnect
- Push the lock (2) against the spring force toward the firewall (arrow a) until the lock can be turned in the direction of the arrow (arrow b) away from the pin (4).
Use leather gloves.
- Turn lock (2) in direction of arrow (arrow b) as far as end stop.
At the end stop the lock (2) latches perceptibly and audibly into place.
Use leather gloves.
- Check whether the lock (2) is completely opened.
The green marking in the check bores (5) must almost have completely disappeared. The pins (4) are no longer visible and can no longer be felt, and the grooves in the steering shaft (3) must be aligned with the lugs of the lock (2) (arrows c).
-
- If the steering shaft (3) is not seized up.
Pull steering shaft (3) upwards out of lock (2).
- If the steering shaft (3) is difficult to remove.
- Push steering shaft (3) using
elbow fitting (02), socket size 16 (03) and extension (04) out of lock (2).
Do not support the tools against the lock (2).
Otherwise, the steering coupling may be damaged.
Connecting
- If the steering shaft (3) is not seized up.
- Insert steering shaft (3) from above into lock (2) and slide in as far as end stop (arrow e).
The spring force pushes down the lock (2) so that it engages.
The steering shaft (3) can only be inserted when the lock (2) is in one particular position (arrows f and g), and should slide into the lock (2) with only moderate force needing to be applied.
- Turn lock (2) in direction of arrow (arrow b) as far as end stop.
Use leather gloves.
- Check whether the lock (2) is completely closed.
The lock (2) is completely closed when the green marking in the check bores (5) is completely visible, the pins (4) protrude by at least 0.5 mm all the way around and the lugs of the lock (2) lie against the steering shaft (3) all the way around (arrows i).
It should now no longer be possible to turn the lock (2) without a lifting movement.
Use leather gloves.
