DANGER Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30V AC and U >= 60V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Confirm change of on-board electrical system battery (G1) using diagnosis system in signal acquisition and actuation module under Actuation menu item. When replacing the on-board electrical system battery (G1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT This updates the charging characteristic for the on-board electrical system battery (G1). AD00.00-P-2000-06LWO
2 Disconnect ground line (3) of on-board electrical system battery (G1).   AR54.10-P-0003LWO 
3 Disconnect vent hose (1) from on-board electrical system battery (G1). INSTALLATION NOTES
Check that vent hose (1) is correctly seated.
Otherwise leaking battery vapor may damage the vehicle.
 
4 Remove cover (4).    
5 Disconnect positive line (5) of on-board electrical system battery (G1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, electrical line to negative terminal/positive terminal of on-board electrical system battery *BA54.10-P-1004-01A 
6.1 Remove nut (6) and place holder (7) to one side with tensioning strap. Model 238.3 with code B01 (48V technology)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, battery bracket/retaining bracket to battery frame
*BA54.10-P-1008-01A 
6.2 Unscrew screw from holder (7) and remove holder (7). Model 238.4 with code B01 (48V technology)
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, battery bracket/retaining bracket to battery frame
*BA54.10-P-1008-01A 
7 Remove on-board electrical system battery (G1).    
8 Install in the reverse order.
