Model 238
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separating point on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (area A).
Transfer separation point from vehicle (area A).
- Mark separating point on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (area B).
Separate sheet metal flange flush with upper front longitudinal member (1) (area B) for overlapping.
- Grind mating surfaces on upper front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind upper front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal at inside (area D).
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C and D).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

- Grind mating surfaces on reinforcement (3) down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas F).
- Grind mating surfaces on reinforcement (3) down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
Reinforcement (3), inside
- Sand down mating surfaces on strut (2) to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
