The electronic ignition lock control unit is located in the left driver footwell.
Tasks
The electronic ignition lock control unit has the following tasks:
- Central gateway (interface between CAN and chassis FlexRay (Flex E))
- Reading in of signals

Central gateway (Interface between CAN and chassis FlexRay)
The processor for controlling the central gateway functions acts as the interface between the following CAN buses:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Diagnostic CAN (CAN D)
- User interface CAN (CAN HMI)
- Periphery CAN (CAN PER)
- Chassis FlexRay
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Diagnostic CAN
- User interface CAN
- Peripherals CAN
- Chassis FlexRay
Direct line
The following signals are read in via a direct line:
- Terminal 30
- Circuit 30 (emergency battery supply)
- Status of KEYLESS-GO start/stop button (S2/3)
- Status of left front door main catch microswitch (A85s2) in left front door lock (A85)
Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN.
Diagnostic CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN.
User interface CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN.
Peripherals CAN
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN.
Chassis FlexRay
The signals are read in from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay.
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor whereupon the relevant signals are then issued

Signals are output via the following lines:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Diagnostic CAN
- User interface CAN
- Peripherals CAN
- Chassis FlexRay
Direct line
The following signals are output via a direct line:
- Emergency path actuation
- Close battery disconnect switch
- KEYLESS-GO wake-up line
Interior CAN
The signals are transmitted to the electronic ignition lock control unit via the interior CAN.
Diagnostic CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via diagnostic CAN.
User interface CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via user interface CAN.
Peripherals CAN
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via periphery CAN.
Chassis FlexRay
The signals are sent from the electronic ignition lock control unit via chassis FlexRay.
