It is possible to switch off the air conditioning or the respective refrigerant compressor using the "A/C" button and the "OFF" button and the climate control menu. If these buttons are not installed on a control panel, the air conditioning or the respective refrigerant compressor can only be switched off via the menu in the head unit (A26/17).
The "SYNC" function is available independently from the operating unit via the Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9) (even if the installed operating unit does not have a "SYNC button").

The climate control operating unit receives requests for function feedback via the climate control LIN (LIN B8-3) for the following functions:

- Rear window heater (R1)
- Stationary heater (with CODE 228 (Stationary heater))
- Residual heat utilization

The climate control operating unit sends function requests via the climate control LIN that can be selected via the following controls:
- Left temperature selection button

- Climate control and residual heat ON/OFF menu button (with code 228 (Stationary heater) or code 581 (Automatic air conditioning))

- Stationary heater button (with CODE 228 (Stationary heater))
