DANGER Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30V AC and U >= 60V DC. No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

INSPECT Check     
1 Check condition of on-board electrical system battery. Model 205 except code P25 (Blue EFFICIENCY Edition) except code U98 (LITHIUM ION STARTING BATTERY (LISB))
Model 213, 238 except code U98 (LITHIUM ION STARTING BATTERY (LISB))
Model 253 except code U98 (LITHIUM ION STARTING BATTERY (LISB))

  Charging     
2 Move cover (1) of engine compartment pre-fuse box (F32/3) until charging terminal point is exposed.    
3 Clip charger POSITIVE terminal (3) onto charging terminal point, then clip charger ground clamp (4) onto ground terminal point (2).    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 81 00 Charger NOTES
Do not reverse polarity.
Otherwise a short circuit will cause damage.

4 Switch on charger.    
5 Charge on-board electrical system battery. IMPORTANT The battery charging period depends on the charge level of the on-board electrical system battery.
Only charge on-board electrical system battery with an approved charger.
The on-board electrical system battery is sufficiently charged when the displayed charging current is < 5 A.
 
6 Switch off charger.    
7 Disconnect charger ground clamp (4) from ground terminal point (2), then disconnect charger POSITIVE terminal (3) from charging terminal point.    
8 Close cover (1) on engine compartment pre-fuse box (F32/3).
