Location 

The telephone control unit is installed in the glove compartment.

Tasks 

The telephone control unit has the following tasks:

• Receives the wake-up signal via the telematics CAN (CAN A) from the head unit (A26/17)
• Communication with the head unit via the telematics CAN (e.g. status of subscriber identification module (SIM) card, operation signals)
• Communication (Internet configuration, Internet data, settings) with the head unit via WLAN and the W-LAN antenna (A2/83)
• Bluetooth® communication with the head unit via the Bluetooth® antenna, e.g. with the following Bluetooth® profiles:
  • HFP (Hands-Free Profile)
  • MAP (Message Access Profile)
  • PBAP (Phonebook Access Profile)
  • SPP (Serial Port Profile)
• Bluetooth® communication with a mobile phone (e.g. SAP (SIM Access Profile))
• Communication with the mobile phone network via the telephone antenna splitter (A2/109), in model 238.4 with code 899 (Multifunction telephony) also via the telephone antenna changeover switch (A2/168)
• If the telephone control unit is selected as the Wi-Fi hotspot: provision of Internet connection for external guests
• Model 238.4 with code 899 (Multifunction telephony): Actuation of the telephone antenna changeover switch
