Location

The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front section of the headliner.

The emergency call system button group (model 238.4 with code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES))) is located between the overhead control panel control unit and the inside rearview mirror (A67) at the front at the roof lining.

Tasks

The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks:

Reading in of signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line

The signals from the following components are read via direct lines:

Roof LIN

The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the roof LIN.

Alarm system LIN (With Code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals from the following component parts via the alarm system LIN:

Interior CAN

The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor and the relevant components are actuated.

Actuation of components

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

Direct line

The following components are actuated via direct lines:

Roof LIN

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the following components over the roof-LIN:

Alarm system LIN (With Code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the alarm siren via the alarm system LIN.

Interior CAN

The signals are sent by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

Transmission and reception of ultrasound waves (With Code 852 (Sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

The overhead control panel control unit monitors the vehicle interior for movements by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves. The overhead control panel control unit includes the following components for this purpose:

Detection of changes to vehicle inclination (With Code 852 (Sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)) or code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

If the inclination sensor integrated in the overhead control panel control unit senses an alarm-relevant inclination change, an alarm is output.
