The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way in the event of damage on the right side of the vehicle.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Mark separating point on rear fender (1) and cut (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
The component parts located underneath will otherwise be damaged and the strength affected.
Dimension : a = approx. 100 mm
- Expose spot welds on the rear fender (1) and cut out (areas B1 and B2).
Cut out spot welds in area B1 through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds on the rear fender (1) and cut out (areas D1, D2, and D3).
Cut out spot welds in areas D1 and D2 through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds on the rear fender (1) and cut out (areas E1, E2, E3, E4, and E5).
Cut out spot welds in areas E1 and E3 through two panel thicknesses.
Cut out spot welds in area E4 from the hinge side.
- Cut adhesive bead between outer rear wheel well and rear fender (1) (area C).
The rear fender is bonded to the outer rear wheel well (1).
- Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove rear fender (1).
- Remove residual adhesive material and loose adhesive material in the area of the rear outer wheel well (area F1).
The height of the remaining adhesive should be max. 2 mm.
- Repair bare points with the primer stick (area F1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and chips from drilling.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas F and F1).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
