Install And Weld In Bottom Rear Center Section - Ar64.20-P-1000-08LWO

  1. Install rear center section (1) and fit.

    IMPORTANT When extending and retracting rear center section (1), slightly press body parts (arrows) located one behind the other apart.

  2. Bend back connecting flange on right rand left rear fender.
  3. Install trunk lid seal.
  4. Install striker eye.
  5. Check and adjust gap dimensions.
  6. Fix rear center section (1) in place.
  7. Remove trunk lid seal.
  8. Remove striker eye.
  9. Drill rivet holes on rear center section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm through present holes in body (areas A).
  10. Drill rivet holes on right and left rear fender with Ø 6.7 mm bit through present holes in body (areas B).
  11. Countersunk rivet holes from outside (areas B).

    IMPORTANT The following operation step 12 is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.

  12. Drill rivet holes on rear center section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm through present holes in body (areas C).
  13. Remove rear center section (1).
  14. Deburr rivet holes on rear center section (1) and body on both sides.
  15. Remove drilling chips.
  16. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

  17. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

    IMPORTANT The following operation step 18 is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.

  18. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to body from inside. Some of the 2-component adhesive is wiped off in this area when the rear center section is installed; it is necessary to compensate for this by applying an additional amount.

    Also apply 2-component adhesive to new part.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  19. Install rear center section (1) and fix in place.
  20. Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6, 5x12.5 rivets (areas D).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range 2.4 mm.

  21. Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø 6, 4x14.0 countersunk-head rivets (areas E).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range 2.4 mm to 2.8 mm.

  22. Rear center section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas F).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 23 and 24 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way on the right side of the vehicle.

  23. Rivet rear center section (1) with Ø6.4x12 rivets (area G).

    IMPORTANT Clamping range 1.4 mm to 1.7 mm.

  24. Rear center section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas H).
