Due to the constant improvement of our quality standards with regard to repair methods and materials used, we would like to notify you of the new adhesive (adhesive kit) for sticking in the spare wheel well in this Service Information.

Notes on processing: 

The bonding area must be free of dust and grease. Otherwise, the adhesive force of the adhesive material will be impaired.

If the degree of damage is < 10 %, repair with primer stick. If the degree of damage is > 10 %, coat body flange with primer filler. Otherwise corrosion damage may occur.

A remaining adhesive bead that has been cut-back can be bonded again without a primer application. The remaining adhesive bead must be bonded again within 8 h after cutting back, otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

The component parts of the repair kit A 000 989 49 05 and also, primer A 009 989 75 71 09 to be used. Please note that the primer included here A 005 989 18 71 09 in the repair set is not used for this repair.

1. Use suitable scraper to level out remaining adhesive material on body flange to a height of approx. 2 mm then remove loose remaining adhesive.
2. Clean working area.
3. Use cleaner to clean bonding area on body flange, then rub down using a dry cloth.
4. Use primer stick or primer filler to repair any paint damage in the bonding area and on the body flange.
5. Apply primer A 009 989 75 71 09 to body flange in areas with missing or damaged remaining adhesive material.
6. The primer must flash off for at least 10 min.

   Otherwise, the adhesive effect of the adhesive material will be impaired.

7. Level out remaining adhesive material on spare wheel well using a suitable scraper to a height of approx. 2 mm and remove loose adhesive material.

   When reusing spare wheel well.

8. Repair damaged primer layer on spare wheel well using primer A 009 989 75 71 09.

   When reusing spare wheel well.

9. The primer must flash off for at least 10 min.

   Otherwise, the adhesive effect of the adhesive material will be impaired.

10. Apply cleaner in bonding area to spare wheel well and rub down using a dry cloth.

    When replacing spare wheel well.

11. Coat bonding area on spare wheel well with primer A 009 989 75 71 09.

    When replacing spare wheel well.

12. The primer must flash off for at least 10 min.

    Otherwise, the adhesive effect of the adhesive material will be impaired.

13. Apply adhesive using nozzle included in adhesive kit.
14. Position spare wheel well and press on, until it makes contact.
