	Disconnect, connect
1	Open hood.
2	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).	All electrical consumers must be switched off. Otherwise they or the on-board electrical system battery (G1) may be damaged when disconnecting/connecting the ground line (3).
3.1	Expose on-board electrical system battery (G1) in trunk or load compartment. 3.2	Remove cover (1) and expose on-board electrical system battery (G1). 4	Disconnect charger of on-board electrical system battery (G1).	When an external charger is connected.
5	Disconnect diagnostic unit.	If a diagnostic device is connected.

6	Undo nut (2) and remove ground line (3) from negative pole of on-board electrical system battery (G1).	Model 205, 213, 253 with code B01 (48V technology) The 48 V on-board electrical system switches off 12 V on-board electrical system support 10 s after disconnection of the ground line (3). 7	Using a diode test lamp, check on-board electrical system for voltage between positive line of on-board electrical system battery (G1) and disconnected ground line (3).	Model 205.012/013/047/053/054/147/212/213/247/253 Model 213.016/050/053/054/216 Model 253.311/353/354/911/953/954 If the diode test lamp lights up, the onboard electrical system is still active because of a defect in the electrical system. If the diode test lamp lights up, ↓ Detach ground line from additional battery and check the on-board electrical system after completing the work. 8	Connect in reverse order.
	Check
9	Check time display.	If there is a problem, ↓ set proper time.
