The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Expose spot welds on end plate (4) and cut out (area A).
- Heat end plate (4) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove end plate (4) together with foam parts.
Heat foam areas if required.
- Mark separating point on C-pillar (1) and cut (area B).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
b = approx. 35 mm
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and cut out (areas C).
- Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area D).
- Heat body on crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
- Remove C-pillar.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
