The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Expose spot welds on rear axle crossmember (3) and cut out (areas A).
- Expose self-piercing riveting on rear axle crossmember (3) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas B).
- Expose impact spikes on rear axle crossmember (3) and cut out (areas C).
- Expose impact spikes on rear axle crossmember (3) and drill (areas C1
)
- Heat rear axle crossmember (3) in crosshatched areas.
Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear axle crossmember (3).
- Expose impact spikes on damper strut dome (1) and cut out (areas D).
- Expose self-piercing riveting on damper strut dome (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas E).
- Heat damper strut dome (1) in crosshatched areas.
- Remove damper strut dome (1).
Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
