Remove Rear Shock-Absorber Strut Tower - Ar64.20-P-1160-01LWE

except code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN)) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose spot welds on rear axle crossmember (3) and cut out (areas A).
  2. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear axle crossmember (3) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas B).
  3. Expose impact spikes on rear axle crossmember (3) and cut out (areas C).
  4. Expose impact spikes on rear axle crossmember (3) and drill (areas C1 )

  5. Heat rear axle crossmember (3) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove rear axle crossmember (3).

  7. Expose impact spikes on damper strut dome (1) and cut out (areas D).
  8. Expose self-piercing riveting on damper strut dome (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (areas E).

  9. Heat damper strut dome (1) in crosshatched areas.
  10. Remove damper strut dome (1).

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  11. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
  12. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
