Partially Remove Rear Longitudinal Member - Ar64.20-P-1260-01LWE

Model 213.0/2, 290

except code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN)) 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on crossmember above rear axle at top and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  2. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area B).
  3. Expose impact spikes on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (areas C).
  4. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear-end floor (1) and drill out with Ø 6 mm bit (areas D).

  5. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear-end floor (1) and drill out with Ø 6 mm bit (areas L).

    Only on repair on right side of vehicle.

  6. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area K).

    Only on repair on right side of vehicle.

  7. Expose spot weld on rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area E).
  8. Expose impact spikes on rear longitudinal member (2) and cut out (area F).
  9. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear fender (2) and drill out with Ø 6 mm bit (area G).

  10. Heat rear-end floor (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  11. Heat rear-end floor (1) in crosshatched areas.

    Only on repair on right side of vehicle.

  12. Heat rear longitudinal member (2) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Crosshatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  13. Remove rear-end floor (1) with rear longitudinal member (2).

  14. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  15. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  16. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas H).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  17. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    Only on repair on right side of vehicle.

  18. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces on inside down to bare metal (area J).

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  20. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J and M).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
