  1. Install rear axle crossmember (1) with straightening tool, fit and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes in rear axle crossmember (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A1 , A2 , A3 and A4 ).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in rear axle crossmember (1) (areas A1 ).

  3. Countersink rivet holes in rear axle crossmember (1) from top (areas A3 ).
  4. Drill out existing holes in inside of body with Ø 10 mm through one panel thickness (areas A4 ).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from top through existing holes in body (areas A2 , A3 and A4 ).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 5 and 6 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

  5. Drill rivet holes in rear axle crossmember (1) with Ø 6.7 mm through existing holes in body (areas B1 and B2 ).
  6. Drill holes present in the inner body with a diameter of 10 mm by one panel thickness (area B2 ).
  7. Remove rear axle crossmember (1).
  8. Deburr rivet holes on rear axle crossmember (1) and body on both sides.
  9. Remove drilling chips.

    IMPORTANT The following operation step 10 is shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

  10. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  11. Install rear axle crossmember (1) with straightening tool and fix in place.
  12. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with rivets Ø 6.4 (areas C1 ).
  13. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 from above (areas C2).
  14. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with rivets Ø 6.4 M6 (areas C3 ).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 15 and 16 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

  15. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x14.5 (areas E1 ).
  16. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with rivets Ø 6.4 (area E2 ).

  17. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with countersunk-head blind rivets Ø 6.4x19.0 (areas D1 ).
  18. Rivet rear axle crossmember (1) with countersunk-head blind rivets Ø 6.4x17.0 (areas D2 ).

  19. Install, fit and fix in place rear axle crossmember upper section (2).
  20. Drill rivet holes in rear axle crossmember upper section (2) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas F1 , F2 and F3 ).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from bottom through present holes in body (area F1 ).

    Drill rivet holes through present holes in body (areas F2 ).

    Drill rivet holes through specified holes in rear axle crossmember upper section (2) (areas F3 ).

  21. Remove rear axle crossmember upper section (2).
  22. Deburr rivet holes on rear axle crossmember upper section (2) and on body on both sides.
  23. Remove drilling chips.

  24. Apply 2-component adhesive in cross-hatched areas on body.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  25. Install and fix in place rear axle crossmember upper section (2).
  26. Rivet rear axle crossmember upper section (2) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (area H1 ).
  27. Rivet rear axle crossmember upper section (2) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 (area H2 ).
  28. Rivet rear axle crossmember upper section (2) with rivets Ø 6.5x14.5 (areas H3 ).
  29. Rivet rear axle crossmember upper section (2) with rivets Ø 6.4 (areas H4 ).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 30 to 49 and 54 to 58 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

  30. Install rear longitudinal member section (6), fit and fix in place.
  31. Drill rivet holes in rear longitudinal member section (6) with Ø 6.7 mm bit through existing holes in rear longitudinal member section (6) (area J).
  32. Remove rear longitudinal member section (6).
  33. Deburr rivet holes on longitudinal member section (6) and body on both sides.
  34. Remove drilling chips.

  35. Apply 2-component adhesive to crosshatched area onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  36. Install rear longitudinal member section (6) and fix in place.
  37. Rivet rear longitudinal member section (6) with rivets Ø 6.5x14.5 (area K1 ).
  38. Rivet rear longitudinal member section (6) with rivets Ø 6.4 (area K2 ).
  39. Rear longitudinal member section (6) SG 1SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area K3 ).

    IMPORTANT To reduce heat distortion, perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow welding zone to cool down in between.

  40. Install end plate (3), fit and fix in place.
  41. Bend sheet metal cutout on striker plate (3) down in direction of arrow.

  43. Drill rivet holes in cover plate (3) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas L1 , L2 and L3 ).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in striker plate (3) (areas L1 ).

  44. Model 213.2

    Drill rivet hole in end plate (3) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area L4 ).

  45. Remove striker plate (3).
  46. Deburr rivet holes on striker plate (3) and body on both sides.
  47. Remove drilling chips.
  48. Apply 2-component adhesive in cross-hatched areas on body.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  49. Install striker plate (3) and fix in place.
  50. Rivet cover plate (3) with rivets Ø 6.4 M6 (areas M2 and M3 ).

    Left side of vehicle.

  51. Rivet cover plate (3) with rivets Ø 6.4 (areas M5 ).
  52. Rivet cover plate (3) with rivets Ø 6.5x14.5 (areas M6 ).
  53. Rivet cover plate (3) with countersunk-head blind rivet Ø 6.4x21.0 (area M2 ).

    Right side of vehicle.

  54. Rivet cover plate (3) with countersunk-head blind rivet Ø 6.4x19.0 (area M3 ).

    Right side of vehicle.

  55. Rivet cover plate (3) with rivets Ø 6.4 M6 (areas M4 ).
