Separate Longitudinal Member Front Section - Ar62.20-P-1260-01LW

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205 and must be performed in the same way on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose spot weld on longitudinal member front section (1) and cut out (area A).
  2. Mark separating points for coarse cut on longitudinal member front section (1) and cut (area B and C).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    b = approx. 20 mm

    c = approx. 55 mm

  3. Remove longitudinal member front section (1).

    IMPORTANT Operation steps 4, 5, 7 and 9 are shown and described with the Celette straightening system. When reusing other approved straightening systems must be used in the same manner.

  4. Transfer straightening tools (2 and 3) with multi-Z-towers

    IMPORTANT Do not screw multi-Z-towers to straightening bench support member

  5. Fasten longitudinal member front section new part (1) to straightening tools (2 and 3) and position at inside of body.

    NOTES When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the multi-Z towers are aligned in the holes of the straightening bench support members.

    Otherwise the separating point cannot be marked correctly.

  6. Mark separating point on inside of body (area D).

    IMPORTANT Longitudinal member front section new part (1) used as cutting template.

  7. Position longitudinal member front section new part (1) at outside of body with straightening tools (2 and 3).

    NOTES When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the multi-Z towers are aligned in the holes of the straightening bench support members.

    Otherwise the separating point cannot be marked correctly.

  8. Mark separation point on outside of body (area E).

    IMPORTANT Longitudinal member front section new part (1) used as cutting template.

  9. Remove longitudinal member front section new part (1) and straightening tools (2 and 3) with multi-Z-towers.
  10. Separate remaining section of longitudinal member front section at marked separating points.

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  11. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
  12. Remove grinding dust.
