Preparing Complete A-Pillar For Installation - Ar63.20-P-1100-09LWE

The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar paneling (5) and cut (areas A and B).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar paneling (5) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (6) and cut (areas D and E).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar reinforcement (6) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust (areas F).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Mark separating point on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut (area G).
Transfer separation point from vehicle.
- Cut laser seams on A-pillar inner panel (7) (areas I).
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner panel (7) and cut out (areas J).
- Remove A-pillar inner panel (7) from replacement part.
- Grind mating surfaces on A-pillar inner panel (7) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas K).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surface on outer connecting panel (8) down bare metal in crosshatched area.
- Remove grinding dust.
Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
- Grind mating surface on inner connecting panel (9) down to bare metal in crosshatched area.
- Remove grinding dust.
Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
