Install And Weld In B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-06LWE

Model 213 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) with portal bracket, fit and fix in place.

    IMPORTANT Use spacers.

  2. Drill rivet holes in B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area A).
  3. Drill rivet hole on B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area B).

    IMPORTANT It is necessary to drill through the inner roof frame located behind.

  4. Remove portal bracket and B-pillar reinforcement (2).
  5. Deburr rivet holes on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and body on both sides.
  6. Remove drilling chips.
  7. Apply sealant to foam parts on A-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.

  8. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  9. Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) with portal bracket.

    IMPORTANT Use spacers.

  10. Rivet B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 (area C and D).
  11. B-pillar reinforcement (2) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas E).
  12. B-pillar reinforcement (2) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas F and G).

    IMPORTANT Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.

  13. Grind inert gas welds down flat on B-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas F and G).

    IMPORTANT Grind down flat on contact surfaces on B-pillar paneling and beaded area only.

  14. Clean weld joints no longer accessible after installing A-pillar reinforcement and coat with zinc dust paint.

  15. B-pillar reinforcement (2) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas H).
  16. Install B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3), fit and fix in place.
  17. Drill rivet holes on B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with Ø 6.7 mm (area J).
  18. Remove B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3).
  19. Deburr rivet holes on B-pillar paneling (1), longitudinal member paneling (3) and body on both sides.
  20. Remove drilling chips.
  21. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  22. Apply sealant to foam parts in crosshatched areas.

  23. Install B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) and fix in place.
  24. Rivet B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (area K).
  25. B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ARROW SPOT WELD (areas L).
  26. B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas M).

    IMPORTANT Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.

  27. Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas M).
  28. Solder surfaces on B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with body solder and smooth (areas M).

    IMPORTANT Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.
