Install And Weld In B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-06LWE
Model 213
The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.
- Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) with portal bracket, fit and fix in place.
Use spacers.
- Drill rivet holes in B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area A).
- Drill rivet hole on B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.7 mm bit (area B).
It is necessary to drill through the inner roof frame located behind.
- Remove portal bracket and B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Deburr rivet holes on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Apply sealant to foam parts on A-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install B-pillar reinforcement (2) with portal bracket.
Use spacers.
- Rivet B-pillar reinforcement (2) with Ø 6.5x12.5 (area C and D).
- B-pillar reinforcement (2)
(areas E).
- B-pillar reinforcement (2)
(areas F and G).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Grind inert gas welds down flat on B-pillar reinforcement (2) (areas F and G).
Grind down flat on contact surfaces on B-pillar paneling and beaded area only.
- Clean weld joints no longer accessible after installing A-pillar reinforcement and coat with zinc dust paint.
- B-pillar reinforcement (2)
(areas H).
- Install B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3), fit and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes on B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with Ø 6.7 mm (area J).
- Remove B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3).
- Deburr rivet holes on B-pillar paneling (1), longitudinal member paneling (3) and body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Apply sealant to foam parts in crosshatched areas.
- Install B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) and fix in place.
- Rivet B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with Ø 6.4x12 rivets (area K).
- B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3)
(areas L).
- B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3)
(areas M).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas M).
- Solder surfaces on B-pillar paneling (1) and longitudinal member paneling (3) with body solder and smooth (areas M).
Alternatively to restorage of the surfaces with body solder, it is also possible to use a body basic spatula.
