Touch-sensitive registration of control signals
The touchpad enables user input (operation gestures and handwriting recognition) to be detected and the palm rest to be recognized. In addition, the touch pad detects when the following integrated buttons are pressed:
- "Back" button
- Background Audio button (enables operation of the audio source without leaving the current menu)
- Home and Favorites button (enables quick access to the base functions (navigation, radio, media, telephone and Internet, vehicle) and to the functions saved as "favorites")
Receiving signals
The touch pad receives the following signals:
- Tml. 30t and circuit 31 via a direct line
- CAN messages via telematics CAN (CAN A)
- With code 446 (Touchpad only): Control signals of the left lower control panel (N72/4) (model 257), right lower control panel (N72/5) (model 257), Drive Unit control unit (N145/1) (model 290) and the upper control panel control unit (N72/1) over the LCP-LIN (LIN A3)
Sending signals
The touchpad sends the following signals:
- Control signals (with code 446 (Touchpad only) including those received over the LCP-LIN from the left lower control panel (model 257), right lower control panel (model 257), Drive Unit control unit (model 290) and the upper control panel control unit) over the telematics CAN to the head unit (A26/17)
- With code 446 (Touchpad only): Control signals from the head unit over the LCP-LIN to the left lower control panel (model 257), right lower control panel (model 257) control unit, Drive Unit control unit (model 290) and to the upper control panel control unit
Structure
The touch pad features a touch-sensitive operating surface and three integrated buttons.
