1 Remove driver's airbag from steering wheel. Model 167

2 Remove bolts (1).    
3 Remove mounting plate (2) then release and disconnect electrical connector.    
4 Remove washers of screws (1). If washers are installed.  
5 Release and disconnect electrical connector at steering column tube module control unit (N80).    
6 Remove screws (6, 7) and remove cover (8). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
7 Remove bolts (5).    
8 Unclip hand detection system control unit (N179) then release and disconnect electrical connectors. Model 118, 247

9 Remove cover (4) with lower multifunction steering wheel button group 1 (S163/3), lower multifunction steering wheel button group 2 (S163/4) and lower multifunction steering wheel button group control unit (A74/2). NOTES Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.		  
10 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (3) of steering wheel electronics (N135) and remove steering wheel electronics (N135). IMPORTANT Observe installation position of washers and steering wheel electronics (N135).  
INSTALLING Install     
11 Connect ad lock electrical connectors (3) of steering wheel electronics (N135) then install steering wheel electronics (N135). Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension. NOTES This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.
IMPORTANT Ensure that electrical connectors (3) engage correctly.
IMPORTANT Ensure that routing of lines is correct.		  
12 Install cover (4) with lower multifunction steering wheel button group 1 (S163/3), lower multifunction steering wheel button group 2 (S163/4) and lower multifunction steering wheel button group controller unit (A74/2). NOTES Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.		  
13 Connect and lock electrical connectors on hand detection system control unit (N179) and install hand detection system control unit (N179). Model 118, 247

16 Connect and lock electrical connectors from steering column tube module control unit (N80). IMPORTANT Ensure correct engagement of electrical connector.  
17 Check line routing of electrical wiring harness in steering wheel.   AR82.90-P-0101-01FRB 
18 Install washers of screws (1). If washers are installed.  
19 Connect electrical connector and install mounting plate (2). IMPORTANT Ensure that the electrical connectors are engaged correctly.  
20 Screw in screws/bolts (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 167
