IMPORTANT

The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. This must be similarly performed for damage to the right side of the vehicle.

Further information can be found in the superordinate service document.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds at mounting support (7) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (areas A).
  2. Remove mounting support (7).
  3. Remove drilling chips.

  4. Mark separating point on rear seat reinforcement (3) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the component parts below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT

    Dimensions: 

    a = 40 mm

  5. Expose spot welds at rear seat reinforcement (3) and cut off (areas B1 , B2 , B3 , B4 and B5 ).
  6. Remove rear seat reinforcement (3) section.

  7. Expose spot welds at rear bench seat mount (6) and cut off (areas C1 , C2 and C3 ).
  8. Expose spot welds at rear bench seat mount (6) and cut off through two panel thicknesses (area D3 ).
  9. Remove rear bench seat mount (6).
  10. Expose spot welds at cover (4) and cut off (areas D4 , D5 , D6 , D7 , D8 , D9 , D10 , D11 , D12 , and D13 ).
  11. Expose spot welds at cover (4) and cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas D1 and D2 ).
  12. Heat cover (4) in the cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT

    Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  13. Remove cover (4).

  14. Expose spot welds at cover (5) and cut off (areas E).
  15. Expose spot welds at rear longitudinal member (1) and cut off from underneath (areas E).
  16. Expose spot welds at rear longitudinal member (1) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (areas F).
  17. Expose spot welds at cover (5) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (areas F).

  18. Expose spot welds at connection (2) and cut off (areas G1 , G2 and G3 ).
  19. Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT

    Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  20. Remove rear longitudinal member (1) with connection (2).

  21. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
  22. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  23. Apply zinc dust paint to the mating surfaces onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area H).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  24. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
  25. Remove grinding dust.
  26. Apply zinc dust paint to the mating surfaces onto connecting flanges that are no longer accessible after installing side roof paneling.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area I).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT

    Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
