General
The antennas may be located at different positions around the vehicle depending on the function and task involved.
Function
The antenna's connection to the respective control units, antenna splitters, amplifiers and receivers will vary depending on the function, equipment and body form.
Telephone antennas connection
The driver's side telephone antenna (4) and front passenger side telephone antenna (5) are connected to the telephone antenna splitter (10). Depending on the vehicle equipment, the antenna connection may differ:
- Vehicles with code 899 (Multifunction telephony) or
with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
Directly to the mobile phone cradle control unit or to the stationary heater remote control receiver (9) via a simple telephone antenna splitter (10)
- Vehicles with code 899 (Multifunction telephony) and with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
To the mobile phone cradle control unit and to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver (9) via a 2-way telephone antenna splitter (10)
On vehicles with code 899 (Multifunction telephony), the antenna signal to the mobile phone cradle control unit is amplified by the mobile radio antenna amplifier/compensator (11).
Emergency call system antennas connection
Emergency call system antenna 1 (21) and emergency call system antenna 2 (20) are directly connected to the telematics services control unit.
GPS antenna connection
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following GPS antenna (6) connections are possible:
- Vehicles with code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) without
code 355 (Extended MBUX functions):
Directly to the telematics services control unit
- Vehicles with code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) with
code 355 (Extended MBUX functions):
The GPS antenna (6) signal is forwarded to the multimedia system control by a GPS splitter integrated into the telematics services control unit.
- Vehicles without code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) but
with code 355 (Extended MBUX functions):
Directly to multimedia system control
Rear window antennas connection
The antennas in the rear window are connected via 2 antenna amplifiers:
- FM, AM, CL, DAB and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier (22)
- FM2, DAB and TV2 antenna amplifier (19)
Windshield antennas connection
The antennas in the windshield are connected via 2 antenna amplifiers:
- TV 1 antenna amplifier (8)
- TV 3 antenna amplifier (7)
