MODIFICATION NOTES

13.01.2020 Remove clamp (2). Operation step 5.1.  
13.01.2020 Separate the rear muffler (3) at the separating point (t). Operation step 5.2.

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
WARNING Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out o' the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A 
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Raise vehicle.   AR00.60-P-1002LWG
2 Support rear mufflers (3).    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
3 Release and disconnect the electrical connector on the left exhaust gas flap actuator motor (M16/53). Engine 264 in model 205
with code U21 (AMG Performance exhaust system)
 
4 Remove clamp (2). For double-flow exhaust system.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clamp (2).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, front exhaust system to rear muffler
*BA49.10-P-1003-02P 
5.1 Remove clamp (2). For single-flow exhaust system if clamp (2) is installed.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clamp (2).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp, front exhaust system to rear muffler

5.2 Separate the rear muffler (3) at the separating point (t) using a pipe cutter. For single-flow exhaust system if clamp is not installed.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Connect rear muffler (3) using a clamp.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp between rear muffler

6 Remove elastomer bearings (4) of rear mufflers (3).    
7 Remove rear mufflers (3). IMPORTANT Helper required.  
8 Separate rear mufflers (3) at separating point (t) with pipe cutter. For double-flow exhaust system if the left or right rear muffler (3) is being replaced.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Connect rear mufflers (3) with clamp.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Clamp between rear muffler

INSPECT Check     
9 Check elastomer bearings (4) for damage and wear. If damage is present,

Replace elastomer bearing (4).
 
CLEAN Clean     
10 Remove combustion and corrosion residue at the separating points (t) of the center exhaust system (1) and the rear mufflers (3).    
11 Install in the reverse order.    
12 Check installation position and unobstructed movement of rear mufflers (3), and correct if necessary.    
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
13 Perform engine test run and check exhaust system for leak tightness.
