Location
The Head-up Display is located in a recess in the instrument panel and it is attached to the cockpit cross member.
Tasks
The head-up display projects driver-relevant information (e.g. speed, navigation information etc.) onto the windshield and into the field of view of the driver. Only information that is redundant to the instrument cluster (A1) is shown.
The Head-up Display is responsible for the following:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Reading in of sensors and signals
The Head-up Display reads in the input factors over the following connections:
- High-speed video link (HSVL)
- User interface CAN (CAN HMI)
High-speed video link
The instrument cluster calculates the image information that should be shown in the Head-up Display and transmits this via the HSVL line to the Head-up Display.
User interface CAN
The signals are read in by the head-up display via the user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Output of signals
The signals are sent by the Head-up Display over the user interface CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).
