MODIFICATION NOTES

17.01.2022 Document completely revised.
05.05.2022 Content updated.

We would like to point out that the 12 V battery test is now performed using XENTRY Diagnosis for the above-mentioned models. This is as a successor to the Midtronics battery test device.

IMPORTANT Model 118, 177, 243, 247

Model 167, 205, 213, 217, 222, 238, 253, 257, 290, 293

except code U98 (LITHIUM-ION STARTER BATTERY (LISB))

Model 463.210/260/261/276/277/349/350

The entry point is through the front SAM control unit (N10), front SAM (N10/6), signal acquisition and actuation module (N10) or the front central control unit (N10/6) under the "Special procedures" tab.

IMPORTANT Model 206, 223, 232, 295, 297

Entry is via the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73/3) under the Special procedures tab.

It is absolutely essential to precisely follow the operation steps as described in XENTRY Diagnosis.

IMPORTANT The 12 V battery can be tested with XENTRY Diagnosis after at least 60 driving cycles. Ensure that the vehicle's on-board electrical system battery is supplied with power supply (greater than 12.5 V) by using a charger (e.g. when the 12 V battery has been heavily discharged).

IMPORTANT If the result of the test is not clear, create a TIPS case and attach the following:

Quick test

SAM-F control unit log

EZS control unit log (only for model 206, 223, 232, 295, 297)

Test log for 12 V on-board electrical system battery

IMPORTANT Always complete the test in order to play back the data.

IMPORTANT The 12 V battery test with XENTRY Diagnosis is intended for lead-acid batteries and not for lithium-ion batteries.

Additional, backup and secondary batteries cannot be checked.

To prevent any unnecessary battery changes and costs, the 12 V battery test must also be performed in a breakdown case by the roadside assistant.

IMPORTANT Always use the latest version of XENTRY Diagnosis.

Further information, prerequisites and fundamentals for testing can be found in Diagnosis.
