Driver assistance systems use ultrasound and radar sensors as well as cameras to recognize the area around the vehicle and interpret it based on this information. They support the driver in various driving situations thereby enhancing the level of ride comfort. Driver assistance systems also contribute to more safety. Driver assistance systems intervene in electronic drive control (e.g. by accelerating, braking, steering) and control of the vehicle's signaling equipment. They warn the driver just before or during the critical situations.
