Location

The overhead control panel control unit is located in the front section of the headliner.

The emergency call system button group (model 205.4 with code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES))) is located between the overhead control panel control unit and the inside rear-view mirror (A67) at the front at the headliner.

Tasks

The overhead control panel control unit has the following tasks:

IMPORTANT Model 205.0/1/2/3

up to model year 2019

with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection)

Model 253 (except 253.99)

up to model year 2020

with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection)

The overhead control panel control unit has the purpose of accommodating the ATA [EDW]/tow-away protection/interior protection control unit (N26/6).

IMPORTANT Model 253 (except 253.99)

as of model year 2020

with code 77B (Contactless gesture control at front)

The overhead control panel control unit is used to mount the hand motion sensor (B84/15).

The emergency call system button group (model 205.4 with code 351 (Emergency call system (HERMES))) receives signals for the switch and controls and symbol illumination and for actuating the LEDs integrated in the buttons. The emergency call system button group sends the control signals from the buttons on the overhead control panel control unit.

Reading in of signals

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the input factors through the following connections:

Direct line

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals of the following components via direct lines:

Roof LIN (model 205 up to 31.05.2018, model 253 (except for model 253.99) up to 31.05.2019)

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals from the front SAM control unit (N10/6) via roof LIN.

Alarm system LIN (with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

The overhead control panel control unit reads in the signals from the alarm siren (H3/1) via the alarm system LIN.

Interior CAN (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019, model 253.99)

The signals are read in by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors are evaluated by the microprocessor of the overhead control panel control unit and the corresponding components are actuated.

Actuation of components

The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:

Direct line

The following components are actuated via direct lines:

Roof-LIN (with code 876 (Interior Light Package))

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the following components over the roof-LIN:

Alarm system LIN (with code 882 (Interior protection and tow-away protection))

The overhead control panel control unit actuates the alarm siren via the alarm system LIN.

Interior CAN (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019, model 253.99)

The signals are sent by the overhead control panel control unit via the interior CAN.

Transmitting and receiving ultrasound waves (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019, model 253.99, with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection) or code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)))

The overhead control panel control unit monitors the vehicle interior for movements by sending and receiving ultrasonic waves. The overhead control panel control unit includes the following components for this purpose:

Detecting changes in the vehicle inclination (model 205 as of 01.06.2018, model 253 (except model 253.99) as of 01.06.2019, model 253.99, with code 882 (interior protection and tow-away protection) or code 852 (sensor system for anti-theft alarm system (ATA)))

If the inclination sensor integrated in the overhead control panel control unit senses an alarm-relevant inclination change, an alarm is output.
