Overview

This document contains information on:

General

The frontal and acceleration sensors determine the body acceleration in the event of a collision.

The frontal acceleration sensors are located at the left and right on the front module.

The B-pillar body acceleration sensors are found in the lower section of the respective B-pillar.

Function

The type of impact can be defined using the signals of the acceleration sensors. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit directly reads in information from the acceleration sensors.

The deployment of the restraint equipment takes place depending on the severity of the impact, the occupation of the front passenger seat and the status of the seat belts.

The squibs are actuated directly by the supplemental restraint system (SRS) control unit.
