Location 

The multicontour seat control unit is located in the respective seat in the center in the lumbar support area of the seat backrest frame.

Tasks 

The multicontour seat control unit does the following:

• Inflating and deflating the multicontour backrests
• Controlling of the massage function
• Adjustment of stored pressure values where memory function is called and storage of contours (with code 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function) or code 275 (Memory Package))
• Shutoff of the respective function if the pressure valve responsible has overheated

The tasks are subdivided as follows:

• Reading in of signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 
• Transmitting signals 

Reading in of signals 

The following signals, among others, are read in via interior CAN (CAN B):

• Air cushion adjustment request
• Massage function request
• "Save/move to memory position" request (with code 242 (Electrically adjustable front passenger seat with memory function) or code 275 (Memory Package))
• PRE-SAFE® adjustment request (with CODE 299 (PRE-SAFE® system))

Evaluation of input factors 

The input factors read in are evaluated by the multicontour seat control unit. The multicontour seat control unit actuates the air cushions in the multicontour backrest through the integrated piezo valves.

Actuation of components 

The multicontour seat control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

• Left front multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M25/8) or right front multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M25/9)
• Integrated piezo valves

Transmitting signals 

The multicontour seat control unit sends the following signals over the interior CAN:

• Status of multicontour seat
• Status of massage function

Variants 

There are no hardware variants for the multicontour seat control unit. The assignment to the respective seat and the country or left-hand/right-hand drive vehicle assignment is coded by the software.
