Perform Protective Earth Conductor And Insulation Resistance Test - AR54.10-P-0019-01LWH
Model 205.047/147/247
The resistance/insulation resistance measurement should only be performed after the vehicle has been de-energized. Otherwise, the test results may be falsified.
The resistance/insulation resistance measurement on the high-voltage component must never be performed between HV+ (positive) and HV- (negative). The high-voltage component can otherwise be damaged.
A resistance/insulation resistance tester is used for the measurement. The resistance/insulation resistance tester must be checked for proper operation before commencing test work in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
Carefully connect the probes of the resistance/insulation resistance tester to the high-voltage connections.
Otherwise the high-voltage connections may be damaged.
- Perform a visual inspection to determine whether the protective earth conductor line (2) is connected to the high-voltage battery charger (3).
- Perform a visual inspection to determine whether the potential equalization line (4) of the high-voltage battery is connected to the ground point (5) and the vehicle ground attachment point.
- Perform a visual inspection to determine whether the potential equalization line (7) of the high-voltage battery charger (3) is connected to the ground point (6) on the longitudinal member and the attachment point on the high-voltage battery charger (3).
- Check protective earth conductor line (2) at threaded connection (1) on high-voltage battery charger (3) for tight seating.
- Check potential equalization line (7) of high-voltage battery charger at ground point (6) and attachment point on high-voltage battery charger (3) for tight seating.
- Check potential equalization line (4) of high-voltage battery at ground point (5) and vehicle ground attachment point for tight seating.
SAE charger feed-in socket
- Calibrate resistance/insulation resistance tester.
- Open socket flap under right rear taillamp.
- Open cover of charger feed-in socket (X58/23).
ECE charger feed-in socket
Conduct resistance/insulation resistance measurement of HV-AC circuit-1-phase (vehicle socket as measuring point) charger feed-in socket (X58/23)
- Measure resistance using resistance/insulation resistance tester between protective earth conductor (PE) of charger feed-in socket (X58/23) and ground point (6) in the trunk.
To do so, set the resistance/insulation resistance tester to the resistance testing mode.
Otherwise, components may be damaged.
The test must be carried out if the ground fault circuit interrupter integrated in the charging cable or the ground fault circuit interrupter of the external power supply has been triggered.
Specified value < 1 O (+0.9)
- Measure insulation using resistance/insulation resistance tester between phase L1 (L1) of charger feed-in socket (X58/23) and the protective earth conductor (PE).
To do so, set resistance/insulation resistance tester to 500 V.
The test must be carried out if the ground fault circuit interrupter integrated in the charging cable or the ground fault circuit interrupter of the external power supply has been triggered.
Specified value > 1 MΩ.
- Measure insulation using resistance/insulation resistance tester between neutral conductor (N) of charger feed-in socket (X58/23) and the protective earth conductor (PE).
The test must be carried out if the ground fault circuit interrupter integrated in the charging cable or the ground fault circuit interrupter of the external power supply has been triggered.
Specified value > 1 MΩ.
