WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform enable for the high voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1150LW
2 Disconnect ground line at the on-board electrical system battery   AR54.10-P-0003LW
3 Remove right engine compartment cover    
4 Drain off coolant   AR20.00-P-1142LW
5 Remove high-voltage distributor (1) and power electronics control unit (N129/1) and close off with a protective cover   AR54.10-P-1400-01LW
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt/nut, power distributor to power electronics *BA08.20-P-1001-01G 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, upper struts to firewall *BA62.30-P-1002-02K 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, upper struts to suspension strut tower mounting bracket *BA62.30-P-1001-02K

6 Remove coolant lines (2) from power electronics control unit (N129/1) and close off with grommets IMPORTANT Collect escaping coolant with rags.

7 Close off coolant connections on power electronics control unit (N129/1) with grommets IMPORTANT Collect escaping coolant with rags.

8 Disconnect electrical connection (6) on power electronics control unit (N129/1).    
9 Remove screw/bolt (7)    
10 Remove positive line (8) on the engine compartment prefuse box (F32/3) and place to one side TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, positive line to engine compartment prefuse box *BA54.15-P-1003-01K 
11 Remove positive line (9) from the engine compartment prefuse box (F32/3)/ TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, positive line to engine compartment prefuse box *BA54.15-P-1003-01K 
12 Expose positive line (9) along the body up to power electronics control unit (N129/1)    
13 Remove potential equalization electrical line (5) at the body TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, potential equalization line to body *BA08.20-P-1007-01G 
14 Unscrew screw/bolt (3) Model 205.012/047/147/212/247
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, battery mounting rail to battery frame
*BA54.10-P-1001-01A 
15 Remove mounting rail (4) from power electronics control unit (N129/1)    
16 Remove power electronics control unit (N129/1) IMPORTANT Helper required.  
17 Modify potential equalization electrical line (5) When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/nut, potential equalization line to power electronics
*BA08.20-P-1002-01G 
18 Modify positive line (9) When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, electrical line for circuit 30 to power electronics
*BA08.20-P-1008-01G 
19 Modify coolant connection fitting (10) When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).  
20 Install in the reverse order    
  Initial startup     
21 Connect diagnostic system When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
22 In the electric motor control unit under "Adaptations" select the menu item "Commissioning" and put the power electronics control unit (N129/1) into operation When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).  
23 Close off diagnostic system When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1).
