Pressing Out And Drawing In Rear Axle Shaft At Rear Axle Shaft Flange - AR35.30-P-0115-03SX

Rear axle shaft with forged center (without core hole drill hole) Pressing out 

  1. SPECIAL TOOL Attach extraction and insertion tool to rear axle shaft flange.
  2. Screw nut onto threaded bolt.
  3. Screw threaded pin into worm shaft of LS extraction and insertion tool and tighten.
  4. Push out rear axle shaft using SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool and remove.

    Inserting 

    IMPORTANT On rear axle shafts which are glued in before installation clean the splined shaft profile and rear axle shaft flange mechanically. If difficult to insert, an M8 thread must be cut into the rear axle shaft so that the rear axle shaft can be pulled in using the SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool.

  5. SPECIAL TOOL Screw the bracket (039) onto the shaft journal of the rear axle shaft (37) and clamp in vise.
  6. Insert 4 mm dia. drilling bush (removable) (039a) and lock with mounting bolt (039c).

  7. Drill core hole bore to a depth of approx. 20 mm using a drill bit (0 4 mm) (dimension a), while at the same time cooling and lubricating drill bit.
  8. Remove 4 mm dia. drilling bush (removable) (039a) with mounting bolt (039c).
  9. Drill core hole bore to a depth of approx. 20 mm using a 6.8 mm dia. drill bit (dimension a), cooling and lubricating the drill bit in the process.
  10. Precut thread M8 using a stage 1 and 2 tap.

  11. SPECIAL TOOL Unscrew bracket (039) from rear axle shaft and clamp rear axle shaft in vise.
  12. Finish cutting M8 threads with stage 3 tap.
  13. Pull rear axle shaft into rear axle shaft flange using SPECIAL TOOL extraction and insertion tool.
  14. SPECIAL TOOL Detach extraction and insertion tool from rear axle shaft flange.
