General
The exhaust gas turbocharger consists of a compressor and a turbine wheel housing.
The exhaust gas turbocharger is cooled by the coolant and integrated into the engine cooling circuit. By incorporating the exhaust gas turbocharger into the oil circuit, lubrication is ensured.
The boost pressure is regulated via the boost pressure control flap actuator.

Function
The separation of the exhaust streams downstream of the cylinder outlet means that more energy (impulse energy and kinetic energy) is transferred to the turbine wheel. The separation of the streams prevents a negative mutual influence of individual cylinders during charge change.
In the exhaust manifold, the flues of two respective cylinders are combined into one section and are brought back together by the structure of the turbine wheel housing only directly in front of the turbine runner. The selection of cylinders per section depends on the firing order of the engine; successive cylinders are always arranged in different sections.
To maximize utilization of this energy, the manifold pipe diameters and the manifold pipe lengths must be coordinated with the twin-scroll exhaust-gas turbo charger. For this reason, a fan-type exhaust pipe is used and the manifold pipes 1 and 4 as well as 2 and 3 are combined (flow separation).
Very good response time and achievement of maximum output are the result.
