IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed in the same way in the event of damage on the right side of the vehicle.

  1. Install rear fender (1) and fit.
  2. Install trunk lid.
  3. Install rear bumper.
  4. Install taillamp.
  5. Install door seal.
  6. Install striker eye.
  7. Check gaps and adjust
  8. Fix rear fender (1) in place.
  9. Remove striker eye.
  10. Remove door seal.
  11. Remove taillamp.
  12. Remove rear bumper.
  13. Remove trunk lid.
  14. Drill Ø 6.7 mm rivet holes in rear fender (1) (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through existing holes in body (area B).

  15. Countersink rivet holes (area B).
  16. Remove rear fender (1).
  17. Deburr rivet holes on the rear fender (1) and on the body.

  18. Apply sealant to the rear outer wheel well and foam part (areas P and D).
  19. Apply 2-component adhesive in cross-hatched areas to the body (areas E and F).

    IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to the inside (area F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces. Observe manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of adhesive.

  20. Install rear fender (1) and fix in place.
  21. Rivet rear fender (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 12 (area G).
  22. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas H).

  23. Rivet rear fender (1) with countersunk-head blind rivets with a diameter of 6.4 x 14.0 (area J).
  24. Rear fender (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas K).
  25. Rear fender (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (areas M, N, and O).

    IMPORTANT To reduce heat distortion, perform inert gas welding in intervals and allow welding areas to cool in between.

  26. Surface grind inert gas welds (areas M, N, and O).
  27. Solder surfaces on rear fender (1) with body solder and smooth (areas M, N and O).
  28. Remove solder residues and grinding dust.
