Cut Off Rear Fender - Ar63.50-P-1400-02LW

Model 205.0/1 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be accomplished analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating points on rear fender (1) and cut (areas A and b).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Transfer separating point from replacement part (area A).

    Separation point can be selected freely according to damage in consideration of foam parts (area A).

    IMPORTANT If connections are to be offset in area B, observe overlapping of approx. 10 mm.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    b approx. 35 mm (measured from Y-markings)

  2. Separate adhesive bead between outer rear wheel well and rear fender (1) (area C).

    IMPORTANT The rear fender (1) is bonded to the outer rear wheel well.

  3. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas D).

  4. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area E).
  5. Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas F and G).

    IMPORTANT Cut spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area G).

  6. Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  7. Remove rear fender (1).

  8. Remove remaining adhesive material in area of outer rear wheel well (area I).

    IMPORTANT A maximum of 2 mm of adhesive residue may be left. Remove loose adhesive material.

  9. Repair bare points with primer stick (area I).
  10. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on insides (area K).

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J and K).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
