Cut Off B-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-1350-05LWR

Model 205.4 

IMPORTANT The following steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on mounting rail (5) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    a = approx. 120 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on mounting rail (5) and cut out (areas B).
  3. Mark separating points on B-pillar (1) on Y-marking and cut (area C).
  4. Expose spot welds on B-pillar (1) and cut out (areas D).
  5. Expose MIG solder seam on B-pillar (1) and cut (areas E).

  6. Expose spot welds on B-pillar (1) and cut out (areas F).

  7. Expose MIG solder seam on crossmember reinforcement (2) and cut (area G).
  8. Remove crossmember reinforcement (2).

  9. Expose MIG solder seam on support (3) and cut (areas H1 ).
  10. Remove support (3).
  11. Expose MIG solder seam on B-pillar (1) and cut (areas I).

  12. Heat cross-hatched areas on B-pillar (1).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  13. Heat cross-hatched areas on B-pillar (1).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

    IMPORTANT Heat cross-hatched area from inside (area K).

  14. Remove B-pillar (1).

  15. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  16. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

  17. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
