IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on MODEL 205.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Model 205.0/1/2

    Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A and B).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    a = approx. 125 mm

    b = approx. 180 mm

    Model 293

    Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas P and Q).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    p = approx. 40 mm, measured from Y-marking on longitudinal member outer shell q = approx. 155 mm, measured from Y-marking

  3. Mark separation point on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (area C).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Model 205.0/1/2

    Dimensions: 

    c1 = approx. 155 mm

    c2 = approx. 265 mm

    c3 = approx. 13 mm

    IMPORTANT Model 253

    Model 293

    Dimensions: 

    c1 = approx. 195 mm

    c2 = approx. 172 mm

    c3 = approx. 25 mm

  4. Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D and E).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas E).

    Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  9. Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (areas F and G).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Dimensions:

    f = approx. 40 mm

    g = approx. 50 mm

  10. Expose insert gas weld at B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area H)

  11. Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas K and L).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas L).

    Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas S).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

    Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas (areas T).

  15. Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).

  16. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area M).

  17. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  18. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas N).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
