The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on MODEL 205.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
a = approx. 125 mm
b = approx. 180 mm

Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

p = approx. 40 mm, measured from Y-marking on longitudinal member outer shell q = approx. 155 mm, measured from Y-marking

Do not cut too deeply.

- Expose spot welds on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D and E).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas E).

Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

Remove B-pillar paneling (1).

- Mark separating points on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (areas F and G).

g = approx. 50 mm
- Expose insert gas weld at B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area H)
- Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas K and L).
Cut out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas L).

Expose spot welds on B-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas S).
- Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

Heat B-pillar reinforcement (2) in crosshatched areas (areas T).
- Remove B-pillar reinforcement (2).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area M).
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas N).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
