Remove Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Entrance - Ar63.30-P-1102-01LW

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

The longitudinal member outer shell can be separated at the specified separating points by observing the foam parts and reinforcement. Observe standard series production joining and bonded connections.

  1. Mark separating point on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Mark separating point along Y-marking (area A).

  2. Mark separating point on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area B).

    If longitudinal member outer shell (1) is only replaced partially.

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT The separation point is freely selectable (area B) according to the degree of damage taking into account the foam parts and reinforcements in the longitudinal member outer shell (1).

  3. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas C).
  4. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas Di and E).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot weld through two panel thicknesses (area E).

    1. 5.1 Model 205.0/1/2

      Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (area D).

    2. 5.2 Model 253

      Model 293

      Expose MIG solder seams and cut (area D>).

      IMPORTANT MIG solder seams are present instead of spot welds (area D2 ).

  5. Heat longitudinal member outer shell (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Heat bonding surface (area F) through hole in longitudinal member outer shell (1).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  6. Remove outer longitudinal member shell (1).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched inner C-pillar sidewall.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  9. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas H).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
