Prepare Longitudinal Member Outer Shell On Rocker Panel For Installation - Ar63.30-P-1102-02LW

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Mark separating point on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut (area A).

    IMPORTANT Transfer separation point from vehicle.

  2. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and drill out with a 6.5 mm but (area B).
  3. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member outer shell (1) and cut out (areas C).
  4. Heat longitudinal member outer shell (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  5. Remove section from longitudinal member outer shell (1).

  6. Grind mating surfaces on longitudinal member outer shell (1) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Model 253

    Model 293

    Grind mating surface down to bare metal in crosshatched (area D2 ).

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  7. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  8. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Model 205.0/1/2

    Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas D1 and D2 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    NOTES Model 253

    Model 293

    Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area D1 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
